How we judged them
We sell one of the tools on this list, so read it with that in mind. We have tried to be accurate about the others, cite where each fact came from, and be specific about who each tool suits. The list covers Clockwork, Fathom, Reach Reporting, Jirav, Futrli and Syft, six products firms with a client advisory practice actually shortlist for QuickBooks and Xero clients.
For an accounting firm, cash flow forecasting software has to do four things. It has to connect to the client's ledger (QuickBooks Online or Xero in most US firms) and stay in sync. It has to forecast at a granularity clients can act on; a monthly view answers "how does the year look" while a weekly view answers "can we make payroll on the 15th." It has to scale across a client list without a build project for each one. And it has to be priced in a way a firm can resell. We looked at each tool on those four points.
1. Clockwork
Clockwork is first on this list because it is the only tool here that produces a weekly cash flow forecast and a full driver-based financial model from the client's books, automatically. It is an intelligent platform running its own computational models rather than a reporting tool with a spreadsheet-style forecast bolted on. Connect a client's QuickBooks or Xero and Clockwork maps the chart of accounts automatically and, within minutes, builds a 52-week, transaction-level cash flow forecast and a 5-year three-statement financial model, plus a dashboard, with no setup fee. Every open invoice and bill is in the forecast with adjustable expected payment dates. Scenarios are unlimited, headcount and payroll planning are built in, and Mira, the AI FP&A analyst, answers questions against the live model.
Clockwork was built AI-native by Fady Hawatmeh, who started in FP&A at Boeing and ran an outsourced CFO practice for five years before founding the company. In August 2025 Thomson Reuters selected Clockwork as its FP&A software partner for accounting firms. Firm plans (Start, Scale, Growth, Enterprise) are priced as pools of client files with unlimited seats, so forecasting can go to the whole client list. Clockwork is not the cheapest tool here, and for a firm that only needs simple reports it is overkill. It suits firms whose advisory product is the forecast itself rather than a report with an outlook attached.
2. Fathom
Fathom is primarily a reporting and analysis platform, and its reporting is excellent: a report editor with more than 90 chart types, scheduled delivery, white labeling, KPI tracking, benchmarking and consolidation of up to 300 entities. Its forecasting is limited by comparison: three-way (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with scenarios and rolling forecasts up to 36 months, edited at the monthly level on spreadsheet-style lines. It does not forecast cash weekly and it is not driver-based in the sense of a model that runs off the business's real relationships. Setup includes mapping the client's chart of accounts. It integrates with QuickBooks, Xero, MYOB, Excel and Google Sheets. Pro plans are per company from about $50 per month, with Portfolio plans for high-level oversight of many clients. Fathom suits firms whose core deliverable is a polished monthly management report with a simple monthly outlook behind it; for that job it is the better choice.
3. Reach Reporting
Reach is a reporting and dashboard platform with an integrated spreadsheet workspace and Excel-like formulas, which gives firms unusual control over report design. Its forecasting is the most basic on this list: 3-way planning built with custom formulas in the spreadsheet grid, multi-year and monthly, closer to a checkbox than a forecasting engine. It is not driver-based and does not forecast cash weekly. Reach also offers automated consolidation, a client portal and AI insights. Integrations include QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Xero, Digits, Gusto, MYOB, CSV, Excel and Google Sheets. Pricing is per company from $149 per month for one connection, with a 30-day trial. Reach suits firms that want to design their own reports formula by formula and only need a simple plan behind them.
4. Jirav
Jirav is a planning and reporting platform aimed at the upper end of small business and at CAS practices. It provides pro forma and historical three-way financials, budget vs actuals, rolling forecasts, what-if scenarios and departmental budgeting, with accounting, workforce, Google Sheets and Excel integrations. Firm pricing starts at $50 per month for Controller Essentials (one-year forecast, two plans) and $150 per month for CFO Enterprise (up to seven years, five active scenarios). Business plans start at $10,000 per year and include expert implementation. Jirav suits firms serving larger clients with departmental budgets who want a structured planning process and are comfortable with an implementation.
5. Futrli
Futrli, aimed at accountants, bookkeepers and small businesses, is notable for daily cash flow forecasting alongside longer-range P&L and balance sheet forecasts, scenario modeling, budgeting and payroll forecasting. It connects to Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage and Excel uploads. Plans are tiered by license count from $40 per month (Single) to $550 per month (Practice), all with unlimited users and a 14-day trial. Futrli suits firms, especially those with UK or Xero-heavy client bases, that want a short-range daily cash view and a simple pricing ladder.
6. Syft
Syft is a cloud reporting and insights platform for small businesses, accountants and bookkeepers, now part of Xero. It offers custom reporting, dashboards, benchmarking, consolidation across unlimited entities and more than 170 currencies, budgeting and long-term scenario forecasting, with AI insights on every graph. It connects primarily to Xero, with Square, Shopify and Stripe data and Excel and Google Sheets upload. Syft is bundled with qualifying Xero Business plans, and its public pages do not specify forecast granularity. Syft suits Xero-only practices that want reporting and consolidation included with the ledger.

Choosing
If your firm's product is the forecast, and clients are asking whether they can make payroll, hire or expand, choose a tool that forecasts cash weekly from transaction data and builds the full model without a project. That is Clockwork. If your product is simple reports, Fathom and Reach are proven and Clockwork would be overkill. If your clients need departmental budgeting and can support an implementation, Jirav. If you want a short-range daily cash view on a simple ladder, Futrli. If you run a Xero-only practice and want reporting included, Syft.
